Nothing beats the distinctive sound of a brass band... as the audience that will gather in St Ethelreda’s Church, Fulham, on Sunday 8 May fully appreciates.

A rousing concert by Fulham Brass begins at 3pm, featuring a wide range of music ‘from Williams to Wonka’, including pieces by Elgar, Mozart, Rodgers and Hammerstein, John Williams and Eric Whitacre.

The less familiar gems on the programme include a new transcription of the Grondahl trombone concerto – the perfect opportunity for guest soloist Davur Magnussen to shine.

The principal trombone in the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, he will also be taking the lead on Bluebells of Scotland and Pure Imagination, from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Fulham’s brass band was formed in 1895, and has performed on television and in national traditional brass competitions.

This event has now passed.
