New plans for Walkabout pub released

Revised project comes after H&F Council rejected plans for a 16-storey tower last year.

Developers have released new plans for the former Walkabout pub in Shepherds Bush.

After scrapping unpopular proposals for a 16-storey tower – which were rejected by Hammersmith & Fulham Council last year – and reducing it to eight storeys, the new proposals add an underground single-screen cinema and bar.

The revised plans for the site – owned by Dorsett Hospitality International, operators of the Dorsett Shepherds Bush Hotel next door in the Grade II-listed Pavilion – were unveiled on Tuesday (26 January).

The scheme would also include approximately 50 serviced apartments and a cafe, with the main parts of the existing building being retained, including the front facade.

The new design will be lower at the front than previously planned, while the hotel’s architects Flanagan Lawrence are also proposing to bank the building away from residents in Pennard Road.

A spokesman for Dorsett says they are planning more consultation work with local residents before the plans are submitted to the council.
