More than 1,500 people have already voted for their favourite traders in Hammersmith & Fulham Council’s Brilliant Business Awards. Have you?

There is still time to tell us what businesses help make the borough such a great place to live and work. When you vote, you are automatically entered into a prize draw to win a fantastic prize, which include a slap-up meal, tickets to the theatre and even the hire of a Harley Davidson.

For a second chance to win, businesses can also enter directly to be considered by a panel of expert judges. But hurry, the panel gets to work earlier which means the deadline for self-nomination is 1 November. The judges meticulously scour entries to crown the best business in 12 categories which include best restaurant, best independent retailer and best customer service.

“We all have our favourite shops, cafes and other local traders that help make H&F such a great place to live," said Cllr Andrew Jones, H&F Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Regeneration.

“Why not show your support by nominating your favourite local business for the awards?"

To vote, visit the H&F Brilliant Business Awards website before 12 November.

Flexible business

Local residents are voting in droves to help reward their favourite local businesses with an H&F Council Brilliant Business Award. They include Lumi Power Yoga in King Street, Hammersmith, which opened two years ago in September.

“Lumi Power is much more than a business, it's a community,” said Dominika Prażmowska, who was among many nominating the business. “It’s a real pearl, a place to be if you are tired of chaos and the fast pace of London. It feels like home,” she added.

Ari Iso-Rautio, who owns the business with his wife Elina, said the praise was humbling. “We have set out to share what we love and really to make a difference in people’s lives,” he said.

“Yoga for a lot of people can be intimidating, they think they’re not flexible enough. It can be a barrier for some people but we help them get through that by being very welcoming, very open and creating a community where people get to know each other. We’re just so grateful we’re in this position and we love what we do,” he added.

Prizes for voters

People who nominate their favourite businesses will be entered into a draw to win a wide range of prizes.

They include a two day detox plan with healthy juices and shots of wheatgrass supplied by Funky Juice in Fulham Broadway Shopping Centre; a free eye test and £50 voucher towards a pair of bespoke glasses by Vision Optique in Hammersmith Road, Hammersmith; a £150 voucher for Cherry Red salon in Hadyn Park Road, Shepherds Bush; £75 to spend at Wholefoods; tickets to a show at Bush Hall in Uxbridge Road, Shepherds Bush; and a meal for two at Azou north African restuarant in King Street, Hammersmith.
