Hammersmith Flyover

Isabel Dedring, Mayor Boris Johnson’s Deputy Mayor for Transport, dropped into Hammersmith Town Hall earlier this month to discuss the Hammersmith Flyunder project with H&F Council Leader, Cllr Stephen Cowan and his team.

Ms Dedring and representatives from Transport for London (TfL) and the Greater London Authority (GLA) wanted to underline that Cllr Cowan has the full support of the London Mayor in driving forward plans to sink the A4 and flyover and replace it with a tunnel - which has become known as the ‘Hammersmith Flyunder’. Ms Dedring pledged that TfL and the GLA will work with the council to deliver the scheme.

Cllr Cowan said: “I was very pleased to meet with Isabel Dedring and hear directly from her how keen she and the London Mayor are that we make progress on our Flyunder plans. We also discussed how this might be funded and talked about TfL’s other wish to improve the troublesome gyratory system. We’re very keen to crack on with the Flyunder and look forward to working with Isabel to get it done and deliver the new housing, new environmental improvements and new job opportunities this scheme will bring.”
