You can be a bird-spotter, just across the river, at the Wetland Centre with its 105 acres of wetland habitats and over 180 bird species, created over a disused Victorian reservoir.

In 2002 the Centre was recognized as a Site of Special Scientific Interest- a tribute to the positive environmental impact on the local area. Many birds have made their home in the Centre that cannot be found anywhere else in London. The London Wetlands Centre is host to regular lectures and events concerned with preserving Britain’s wetland animals.

Considered as an oasis by many London based artists- the Centre is also frequently the site of Art and painting courses, competitions and events. If you consider yourself a bird lover the Centre is an unrivalled opportunity to see rare wetland birds and also to welcome the return of Bitterns and other once common species to London. The Centre provides ‘hides’ to view the wildlife and has significant educational literature available to help identify and report sightings.

Ideal for kids with Pondzone, interactive Discovery Centre, children’s farmyard, art gallery, observatory activities and events. The Peter Scott visitor centre allows enthusiasts the get close to the wildlife using the latest technologies. Television screens show nests and give visitors chance to closely view some of the rarer animals, without disturbing them.
