Working in tourism
Tourism is one of the largest industries in the UK, accounting for 3.5% of the UK economy and worth approximately £74.2 billion in 2003. With an estimated 1.4 million jobs in tourism in the UK, some 5% of all people in employment in the UK there are a wealth of opportunities. There are more jobs in tourism than in construction or transport. Approximately 130,400 of these jobs are in self-employment.
