Regenasis, the local regeneration agency, formerly known as the Hammersmith and Fulham Regeneration Partnership, was launched at the BBC's White City Centre in July 2001.
Regenasis is an independent body set up in 1999 to revitalise and regenerate Hammersmith & Fulham's most deprived neighbourhoods and is managed by a board of 15 members. Its budget for 2001-2002 was £6m and for 2002-2003, £4.6m. The money comes from the government's Single Regeneration Budget - money specially allocated to help deprived areas. In addition the Partnership has attracted funding from private and public sector investment.
The partnership is made up of members from the public, private and voluntary sectors and covers an area stretching from College Park in the north, along the borough's eastern boundary down to the River Thames. The area includes the main shopping centres of Shepherd's Bush and Fulham. It provides financial support for local regeneration initiatives delivered by working jointly with local businesses, statutory organisations, the voluntary and community sectors, and the local community.
