A new local Internet site has been launched that could transform the way job-seekers in West London find out about vacancies, training courses and networking opportunities.
www.jobswestlondon.com is a job ‘match-making’ service that takes people’s employment details and job interests and enables them to make contact with suitable employers and recruitment agencies, as well as local organisations that specialise in training, job matching and work experience. The site can help job-seekers to create a CV and sends them information by email and text message.
The hope is that www.jobswestlondon.com will expand jobseekers’ awareness of local employment and training opportunities, and allow employers and training providers to make contact with people who might otherwise be out of reach. The site is supported by West London organisations including Action Acton, Op*Shop careers and recruitment centre, Hammersmith & Fulham Volunteer Centre and Hammersmith & Fulham Action on Disability, and is funded by Regenasis, the borough regeneration agency for Hammersmith & Fulham, through the LDA White City Opportunities programme.
Marion Schumann, director of Hammersmith & Fulham Volunteer Centre, says: “We believe that www.jobswestlondon.com will be a fantastic tool to enable people to make contacts and find work and training. For employers, too, it should prove a simple and effective way to tap into a vast pool of local talent. Once people have registered, we hope that they will log on every day and make www.jobswestlondon.com an integral part of their employment search.”
