Various roles for volunteers at Fulham Palace
Would you like to work within a fascinating building and garden, learn new skills, and meet new people? Can you give some of your time on a regular basis? These are some of the varied voluntary roles at Fulham Palace:
- Museum Steward
Meet the public and supervise the museum’s displays which include objects relating to the history, architecture and garden of the fascinating former home of the Bishop of London. Full training will be given.
- Sewing Assistant
Use your skills and enthusiasm for sewing to help create costumes and resources for the museum’s thriving education service. This is also an opportunity to share ideas and information in the museum’s sewing and embroidery hub.
- Tour Guide
Lead public tours around Fulham Palace, exploring the Tudor, Georgian and Victorian history of the building as well as a Tudor knot garden. Full training will be given.
- Tour Assistant
Help guides lead the public around Fulham Palace by assisting and shepherding the public and preparing and securing rooms viewed. Full training will be given.
- Handy Person
Use your carpentry skills to help the museum create a wide variety of teaching props and museum displays. All equipment supplied.
- Gardening
Help us restore and maintain the Palace’s extensive 18th-century gardens and woodland. Full training will be given. Volunteering in the grounds is operated by the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers. For details please visit the BTCV website.
