Notice of election for GLA West Central constituency 2024

Election of a Greater London Assembly Member for the West Central constituency.

Tuesday 19 March 2024

(1) If the election is contested, the poll will take place on Thursday 2 May 2024.

(2) Nomination Forms for this election may be obtained from the Constituency Returning Officer, Electoral Services, 14th floor, Westminster City Hall, 64 Victoria Street, London SW1E 6QP.

(3) Nomination papers must be delivered to the Constituency Returning Officer, Electoral Services, 14th floor, Westminster City Hall, 64 Victoria Street, London SW1E 6QP between the hours of 9.30am and 4.30pm on or after the date of this notice (excluding weekends and bank holidays), but not later than 4pm on Wednesday 27 March 2024.

(4) Nomination papers must be accompanied by a deposit of £1,000. The deposit can be paid in one of the following ways: 

  • by means of a banker’s draft drawn on a bank operating in the UK payable to “Westminster City Council”
  • by legal tender i.e. Bank of England £5, £10, £20 and £50 notes and £2 and £1 coins.

(5) Applications to register to vote must reach the relevant Electoral Registration Officer** by midnight on Tuesday 16 April 2024. Applications can be made online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

(6) Applications to vote by post or to change existing postal or proxy arrangements must reach the Electoral Registration Officer** by 5pm on Wednesday 17 April 2024. Applications can be made online at www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote and www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote.

(7) Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Elector’s Document valid for this election must reach the relevant Electoral Registration Officer** by 5pm on Wednesday 24 April 2024. Applications can be made online: www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-to-vote.

(8) New applications to vote by proxy must reach the relevant Electoral Registration Officer** by 5pm on Wednesday 24 April 2024. Some applications can be made online at www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote.

(9) Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on the grounds of physical incapacity; for work/service reasons; or photo ID is lost/stolen/damaged/or voter ID not received, must reach the relevant Electoral Registration Officer** by 5pm on Thursday 2 May 2024.
