Westway CT is funded to deliver Community Transport services for voluntary and community groups in Hammersmith & Fulham.

In the past year
Because of the pandemic Westway CT main Community Transport services had to be suspended but its effort were redirected to work with foodbanks.
In the initial months of the year, before the lockdowns imposed by the pandemic, groups in Hammersmith & Fulham that used our services were Nubian Life, Action on Disability, Vanessa Nursery School and Good Shepherd Primary School. Together they carried out 116 trips.

Use of volunteers
The service’s 5 volunteers delivered 118 hours of work. This is the equivalent to £1,280, if the London Living Wage is applied to the volunteering hours. This work was in partnership with the Hammersmith & Fulham foodbank who organised the shifts and the address lists whilst Westway CT provided a volunteer and a vehicle on most days of the week. This work is ongoing in 2021.
Outcomes being achieved
Volunteers recruited in other local authorities were utilised across Hammersmith & Fulham as well
Westway CT was able to redirect its services in a creative way to support foodbanks at a time of great need.

Future plans
The work done with Hammersmith & Fulham foodbank represents a gap in provision that was identified and we look forward to doing more of this. We have explored this work in other local authorities as well and have become aware of further services that could be delivered and would welcome the opportunity to discuss this further.
As soon as the restrictions lift, Westway CT plans to call its Hammersmith & Fulham membership to establish what are the emerging needs in the post pandemic world and be proactive in offering support and tailored transport solutions going forward.
