Alley Gating
Restricting access to alleys and passages
Alley gating involves installing gates to close access to alleys and passages. This helps to prevent burglaries, dog fouling, and a range of anti-social behaviour.
Under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005, the council is allowed to make alley gating traffic orders which restrict public access to any public highway by gating it, without removing its underlying highway status.
