How to apply for a parking bay suspension
If you are moving home, expecting a delivery, or need access to a specific set of parking bays for another reason, such as tree cutting, you can apply for a parking bay suspension.
Costs
Parking suspensions cost £26 per bay (for 5 metres) per day.
You can pay for your parking suspension by credit card by submitting your details on the form or by cheque. You can also pay by credit / debit card over the phone.
If you wish to pay in person, you may do so at the cashiers at Hammersmith Town Hall by cash, cheque or credit/debit card. In all cases, payment must be received before the notice period for the size and duration of your request.
Applying
To apply, you will need to complete an application form. These are available from Hammersmith Town Hall, or you can ask us to fax you a form by calling 020 7371 5678. Forms are also available online in PDF format for you to download.
Forms can be returned by fax, post or taken to the town hall.
Notice periods
In order to provide reasonable notice to other road users, we need to place signs around the parking bays that are going to be suspended. To allow us to do this, there are notice periods for suspension requests. These range from 8 days to 4 weeks. Please check the guidelines for the notice period that applies to your request.
Filming
Film companies should contact the Filming Office before applying for a suspension. Tel: 020 8753 2171
Utility Companies
Utility Companies should apply for suspensions using the Utility Company application form. Contractors working on behalf of a Utility Company should contact their Traffic Management Officer to request a suspension. Different charge structures apply to Utility applications; these are explained on the form.
Notes
We will not automatically agree to a parking suspension. Applications must be for a specific date and purpose.
We will not authorise a suspension for a removal where the time is to be spent packing boxes, or a suspension for long term parking for building work.
There may also be times where a location has already been suspended by another person, or the location is unsuitable for a suspension.
If there is a problem with your application we will contact you to discuss it. If the application is agreed, we will send you a receipt which also tells you where the suspension will be.
There are further notes, and the terms and conditions of the suspension, printed on the application form, you should read these carefully before signing and returning the form.
Suspension request notice periods
- If you need to suspend up to 6 bays (30 metres) for up to 3 days, we need at least 8 days notice before the suspension date (i.e. if you wanted the suspension to start on 14th October, we would need your request and payment before 4pm on 6th October)
- If you need to suspend up to 6 bays (30 metres) for more than 3 days, we need at least 2 weeks notice before the date of the suspension (i.e. if you wanted the suspension to start on 15th October, we would need to receive your request and payment before 4pm on 1st October)
- If you need to suspend between 6 and 12 bays (between 30 metres and 60 metres) for up to 1 week, we need at least 2 weeks notice before the date of the suspension (i.e. if you wanted the suspension to start on 15th October, we would need to receive your request and payment before 4pm on 1st October)
- If you need to suspend more than 12 bays (60 metres) or need to suspend the bays for more than 1 week, we need at least 4 weeks notice, and you will need to send leaflets to local residents advising them of the suspension (leaflets will have to be sent to Parking Services for approval before distribution.) If you need a large suspension that lasts longer than 1 week, you should contact us Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm, not Bank Holidays, on 020 7371 5678 to discuss your request.
