Greener vehicles discount

Cheaper parking permits for residents with greener vehicles

Since 1 September 2007, residents with electric, gas or hybrid vehicles are able to apply for a discounted annual parking permit. The scheme aims to encourage the growing trend of purchasing cleaner vehicles running on alternative fuels such as electric and gas, as well as low emission hybrid vehicles. A 12-month parking permit for greener vehicles costs £50.

How do I apply for my greener vehicle parking permit?

The same procedure applies as when you apply for a new residents permit, or when you renew your current permit.

When you submit your application form, simply include a copy of your vehicle registration document as proof that you have a gas, electric or hybrid vehicle. Please note that:

  • The discount applies only to annual residents' parking permits (there is no 6-month greener vehicle permit).
  • This applies to your first permit only. Residents who own two greener vehicles will only be able to receive the discount on the first vehicle.
  • Business permit holders are not entitled to a discount.

For any other enquiries, please contact the Pay and Park Section by telephone on 0845 803 1020 or via email at parkingpermits@lbhf.gov.uk

Electric vehicle charging points
In association with SWELTRAC and local organisations, we have installed six electric vehicle (EV) charging points in three public car parks in Hammersmith and Fulham.

Location of charging points:

  • Du Cane Road, Hammersmith Hospital, W12 0HS

  • Fulham Palace Road, Charing Cross Hospital, W6 9NT

  • Glenthorne Road, Kings Mall Shopping Centre, W6 0LJ

All local car parking charges, time restrictions and terms and conditions apply.  For more information and the location of other charging points across London, please visit www.newride.org.uk

Further charging points have been installed at locations in Hammersmith and Fulham, Sutton and Wandsworth.
Members of the scheme will also be able to use the 62 points in the London Borough of Westminster.

How does the pilot scheme work?
The new electric vehicle charging points allow an electric vehicle owner to charge their vehicle for a limited time in a dedicated parking bay.
The charging points can only be used with an electronic key fob which will be distributed to registered members of the scheme. Once registered you will be eligible to use all of the SWELTRAC charging points as well as a number of other charging points across London.
There is an annual administration fee of £100 for membership and terms and conditions apply.
Membership of the scheme does not entitle you to free parking and any Pay and Display parking charges must still be paid.

Who is eligible?
Membership is open to any private electric vehicle owner or user living in one of the ten SWELTRAC Boroughs.
The ten SWELTRAC boroughs are: Croydon, Hammersmith and Fulham, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Kensington and Chelsea, Merton, Richmond, Kingston, Sutton and Wandsworth.

What is the cost of membership?
The cost of registration will be £100 per annum. For this fee users will be issued with detailed instructions on using the bays, a coiled charging cable (coiled to help prevent trip accidents) and an electronic key fob which will allow them to access the charging point.
