Applying for a Resident's Parking Permit

Please note - permits cannot be issued to vehicles over 2.28 meters (7ft. 6ins) in height.

If you are a permanent resident of the Borough and main residence is within a controlled parking zone, you can apply for a Resident's Parking Permit. A Resident's Permit costs £99 for 12 months, or £60 for six months. If you have two cars, you can buy a second permit at £450 for 12 months or £235 for six months.

Please note not all properties in the borough are in a Controlled Parking Zone and some are subject to conditions that do not allow a parking permit to be granted.

You will need to complete a Resident's Parking Permit application form

You must also supply proof of your residence in one of these three ways:

1. If the Council Tax account for the property is in your name:
Provide a copy of your current Council Tax bill plus one piece of independent evidence – see the list below. If you no longer have your bill, complete Section 2 (the Authorisation to Access Council Tax) section of the Resident’s Permit Application form. If your circumstances have changed but your Council Tax account has not yet been updated, you must contact Council Tax on 020 8600 7777 during the following times, Monday - Friday 0800-2000.

2. If you are a tenant and the Council Tax account is not in your name:
Provide a signed, witnessed and up to date Tenancy Agreement. You will also need to provide copies of two pieces of independent evidence from the list below.

3. If you do not have a tenancy agreement or if your name is not on the Council Tax bill:
Ask the person registered for Council Tax to provide a copy of his or her bill or complete Section 2 (the Authorisation to Access Council Tax) section of the Resident’s Permit Application form. You will also need the Council Tax account holder to complete Section 3 of the application form, or provide a letter which confirms that you live at the address on a permanent basis. In addition, you will also need to provide a copy of two pieces of independent evidence from the list below.

Independent Evidence

Only ONE item from each category can be used. Independent evidence cannot be used alone and must always be used in conjunction with one of the three methods above, and must also show the address where you require the permit.

1. Full Driving Licence.

2. Current Motor Insurance Certificate (not a cover note) for the vehicle concerned. If no address is shown, please also enclose a schedule showing your address and policy number.

3. Vehicle Registration document for the vehicle requiring the permit.

4. Current Building Structure Policy OR Contents Insurance Policy.

5. Latest Gas OR Water OR Electricity OR Telephone bill OR Mobile Phone bill OR TV Licence.

6. Latest Payslip OR Inland Revenue Notice of Coding bill (if dated within the last 3 months).

7. Latest Credit Card statement OR Latest Bank statement OR Building Society Book OR Store Card statement (all documents must show recent transactions).

If you feel you cannot meet the requirement of any of the methods, please call the Pay & Park Office on 0845 803 1020 for advice.
