Business loading bays

Business loading bays are also known as goods vehicle loading bays.

These bays are for goods vehicles* only, and are intended for use by large vehicles which may otherwise have difficulty in finding a place to load or unload at the kerbside.

The bays are marked on the road with a white dotted line line, and the words 'LOADING ONLY' adjacent to the bay. Goods vehicles may load and unload for the period shown on the adjacent sign, and are not allowed to return to the bay within one hour of leaving.

* Goods vehicles are vehicles classified as such by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) and the Vehicle Operator and Services Agency (VOSA). The class of a vehicle is shown on the V5 registration document. Private cars, scooters, mopeds and motorcycles are not considered to be goods vehicles.
