With the recent release of FOI documents from TfL, does LBHF now recognise that TfL and Westfield continue to pull the wool over the Council’s eyes? We all must remember that TfL have a big financial interest in the White City Development. They are the land owner and will benefit from a successful development. The Council has continued to stand by the development, at the expense of the residents and businesses of Shepherd’s Bush and surrounding areas. And finally, there is traffic chaos to consider.

Thank you for taking time to comment. No one seriously wants to see the closure of Shepherds Bush Underground Station but given the fact that TfL have already made up their minds it’s up to the council to help minimise disruption to residents who currently use the station. We are now focusing our efforts on things that matter to residents – minimising the length of the closure, putting an increased number of alternative methods of transport in place and getting TfL to put in a lift to ensure step free access in the new station.
Reply from the Leader, Cllr Stephen Greenhalgh, on 07/02/08
Why is the leader getting so heated under the collar about Heathrow and the District Line but is so supportive of the closure of the Shepherd’s Bush Central Line Station? In one breath the council is calling for a Transport Forum to discuss the poor state of public transport, in the next the Leader is supporting the unprecedented full closure of a tube station. Perhaps the Leader should listen to what the residents of the borough are saying. February’s closure of the Shepherds Bush Central Line Station will add pressure to the local streets and busy buses. The council will achieve nothing while it does not have a robust and consistent view on transport within the borough.

We are delighted H & F council are putting pressure on TfL to make sure step free access is a reality at this station. We would like to find out more about the transport summit.

Like many residents, I travel into central London from Shepherds Bush several times a week. There is a rail replacement service to White City, but this takes an inordinate amount of time to travel around Shepherds Bush Green and takes you in the wrong direction, adding substantially to the journey time. The efficient way to travel is to take the bus (94, 148, 31) to Holland Park or Notting Hill Gate stations and continue the journey from there. But, I do not want to add the two extra bus fares to the cost of my journey each time, as this will end up costing me over £250 in extra fares by the time Shepherds Bush station is reopened. Is it possible to lobby TfL to issue refunds for these (3 stop) bus journeys, or better still, lobby them to issue a temporary bus pass valid between Shepherds Bush and Holland Park?
