Grot spots in Fulham Reach and Avonmore and Brook Green

by Hammersmith and Fulham Press Office
16/01/2008

The targeted campaign launched in September to crack down on dumped rubbish, litter and graffiti rolled into Fulham and Brook Green.

Fulham Reach and Avonmore & Brook Green wards were blitzed as council officers removed one-off
incidents of grot, as well as dealing with persistent problem areas and regularly patrolling these grot spots. Street by street.

The campaign has seen Hammersmith & Fulham Council target wards street by street, incident by incident, so that no area of unsightly mess is left unattended. The intensive work being carried out as part of the campaign is in addition to the regular cleaning in the borough. In September, North End Ward had over 100 incidents attended to, and a similar number were identified in last month’s operation.

Over the coming months, the grot spot teams will be rolling out to every ward across Hammersmith & Fulham. By intensely tackling each area, a message is being sent out to fly-tippers and graffiti yobs that H&F is not the borough to mess with.

“It is important that residents let us know of dumped rubbish and graffiti wherever it occurs,” said Cllr Bristow, cabinet member for residents’ services. “If we don’t keep on top of the nasty niches where fly tipping, persistent littering and graffiti occurs, very often they can become problem areas that are added to again and again. “We are determined to stamp out these unpleasant grot spots, and will leave no area neglected. That’s why we are going to tackle every incident, in every street, in every ward in the borough.”
