South Park is set for a major revamp as the council continues to plough ahead with its refurbishment plans for parks and open spaces in the borough.
Repairs to the perimeter terracotta walls and removal of planters in the central area of the park in Fulham have already taken place.
Alongside repairs to the Lodge and improvements to the changing rooms, essential maintenance works are also being undertaken with a view to the future of the park as a facility for recreation, play and quiet enjoyment for residents.
“The next challenge is to develop a master plan for South Park,” explained Councillor Paul Bristow, cabinet member for residents’ services. “We want to provide relevant facilities and experiences for local people, while restoring, protecting and preserving the unique heritage features for future generations.”
With the council’s ParkLife campaign now well underway, there has never been a netter time to enjoy the borough’s numerous parks and open spaces and South Park is just one of the parks enjoying a transformation this summer.
The South Park master plan will be worked on during the next few months, with residents and amenity groups playing a vital role in the eventual outcome.
Cllr Bristow added: “It seems summer is here and I hope to see as many people as possible making the most of the good weather and spending some time in the great outdoors.”
