Mayor and Lord Imbert greet local service men and women
The Mayor of the borough, Cllr Minnie Scott Russell held a reception last night (Tuesday 22 April) as a tribute to the contribution made by servicemen and servicewomen who have recently served in Iraq and Afghanistan and the Territorial Army units of Hammersmith and Fulham.
More than 200 servicemen and women attended the event, representing the Royal Yeomanry, 101 Engineer Regiment, 31 Signal Regiment, 7th Batallion, the Rifles, the King's Troop and 4th Batallion the Parachute Regiment.
Also in attendance were a number of important dignitaries including Lord Lieutenant, the Lord Imbert, Leader of the Council, Cllr Stephen Greenhalgh, Brigadier David Paterson, Colonel John Holland and Wing Commander Sean Ahearn, Vice Chair (AIR) of the Royal Auxillary Air Force.
Cllr Scott Russell said at the event: "I am so pleased to see you all and thank you for coming. On behalf of the men, women and children of Hammersmith & Fulham I would like to say how much we admire you. We appreciate the job you are doing and we salute you."
