Children's Service's Department praised

Hammersmith & Fulham Council’s Children’s Services Department has been praised by Ofsted following the Joint Area Review (JAR) inspections. This contributed to the Council's Comprehensive Performance Assessment which graded the Council as a 'four star' authority - the highest rating possible.

The JAR investigated what life is like for children growing up in Hammersmith & Fulham and how well services work together to improve the wellbeing of children and young people.

The feedback confirmed that the borough delivers a good children’s and youth service that provides good value for money and that leaders and managers have established clear direction and purpose for the service. It stated that the service incorporates very good partnership work which adds to the quality of young people’s learning, enjoyment and progression. In summary, the feedback was that children and young people have a good life experience in the borough.

H&F’s Youth Offending Service (YOS) was also praised. The feedback highlighted that the service has a culture that focuses on the effective engagement of children and young people. Staff are well informed and involved in the decision making process and the service has established strong and effective partnerships with a range of agencies.

Cllr Antony Lillis, Cabinet Member for Community and Children’s Services, said: "This is excellent news. The findings of the JAR were very positive and have shown that the majority of children and young people in Hammersmith & Fulham have good life experiences and that our services work well together. We will be working to improve even further over the coming months and years so that we can continue to give all children and young people in the borough the best possible start in life."
