Late-night licence turned down

An Australian themed bar in Shepherds Bush has been told its opening hours will not change, after it applied to extend its licence.

Walkabout on Shepherds Bush Green had applied for a late-night licence to stay open until midnight from Sunday to Wednesday, until 1am on Thursday and until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays.

But on Friday February 13 Hammersmith & Fulham Council’s Licensing Sub-Committee ruled that the current licence would not change. The decision came after hearing that the building’s planning conditions state that people cannot be on the premises between 12.30am and 9am from Tuesday to Sunday, nor between midnight on Sunday and 9am on a Monday.

This means that the bar will continue to serve alcohol only until 11.30pm from Sunday to Wednesday and from Thursday to Saturday until 12.30am the following day.

Although they missed the deadline for consideration at the hearing, many residents later wrote in to the council to express their concerns about extending the hours at the Walkabout.
