Lap dancing club appeal

A club owner who had his application for a lap dancing venue refused last year has appealed against the decision.
In November, Hammersmith & Fulham Council's licensing sub-committee turned down an application by David Moynihan, managing director of Passion Nights Ltd,
to change the licence of the former Fox Tavern on North End Crescent to allow a strip club upstairs.
The building is currently open as a champagne and wine bar called The Crescent.
Over 1,000 letters of objection from local people, including a petition signed by 250 residents, were received by the council, claiming that the club would not meet the four licensing requirements. These relate to the prevention of crime and disorder in the area, protection of children from harm, public safety and the prevention of public nuisance.
The appeal against the committee’s decision will be heard at West London Magistrates Court in Hammersmith on April 27 and could last several days.
