A delegation from Afghanistan visited the Town Hall recently as part of a fact finding mission on how to hold elections.
The group was headed by Zekria Barakzai, Afghanistan’s, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer – the man tasked with organising elections in the Middle Eastern nation.
The party was hosted by the borough’s Mayor, Cllr Andrew Johnson, who said: “It was wonderful to meet the delegation and it was particularly interesting to meet someone with such a difficult job in such a volatile part of the world. I wish Mr Barakzai and his colleagues all the best and hope their visit to the borough was helpful.”
Hammersmith & Fulham’s electoral services team holds Beacon status and the Afghan group were able to get expert advice on important election topics such as training polling station staff, registering voters and recruitment from the team.
