Music taster sessions at a school near you
by Hammersmith and Fulham Press Office
Children from across the borough are invited to try out a whole host of musical instruments at special sessions taking place at schools over the coming months.
The council’s music service offer a wide range of musical experiences for children and young people, who either attend state schools in the borough or live in the borough, and is always keen to meet aspiring musicians.
The service even offers pupils who attend state schools subsidised instrumental tuition, a free instrument for the first year of tuition and an assisted instrument purchase scheme. It also offers the opportunity to all to participate in orchestras and choirs free of charge.
Cllr Antony Lillis, cabinet member for community and children’s services, said: “Many children would like to play an instrument but simply can’t afford to buy one. The council’s music service is here to help. Music helps to develop a child’s creativity and create a sense of achievement and self worth.
