There’s excellent news for children who love playing in the great outdoors now that the council has been awarded £1m to reinvigorate play areas across the borough.
The money has been granted by the Government as part of their initiative to increase children's access to outdoor and adventurous play opportunities.
H&F Council is now working closely with organisations, including those from the voluntary sector, drawing up plans that will see the money spent on 22 play areas across the borough. Young people will be fully involved in planning new improved areas that are challenging, fun, safe and secure.
Cllr Paul Bristow, cabinet member for residents’ services, said: “Our ParkLife campaign, which has been running for the last six months, has shown residents just how committed we are to improving our local environment. This funding will prove to be very helpful as we work to make our play areas the very best that the capital has to offer.”
Cllr Antony Lillis, cabinet member for community and children's services, said " This is fantastic news for young people in the borough who, I am sure, are looking forward to playing on the new equipment.”
More information on proposed play builder sites and how to get involved will be provided later in the year.
