Schools and colleges from across the borough have forged a link with Cambridge University to encourage the most academically able students to “aim high”.
Aimhigher Hammersmith and Fulham, an initiative that raises aspirations among young people, has agreed a partnership with Fitzwilliam College, one of the 29 undergraduate colleges that make up Cambridge University.
The link paves the way for day and residential visits to Cambridge for the brightest pupils at the borough’s schools and colleges.
A group of 20 year 12 pupils from the borough’s schools will have the opportunity to attend a summer school at Fitzwilliam College at the end of the summer term. Others will be able to take part in day visits to Cambridge University.
Cllr Antony Lillis, cabinet member for community and children’s services, said: “I am delighted that this link has been agreed and it really will enable high-achieving pupils to get a first-hand taste of University life.”
