Hundreds of sports enthusiasts are set for a day of free sports coaching sessions when the London Winter of Sport (LWoS) comes to Hammersmith and Fulham.

LWoS is part of the capital’s commitment to deliver an enduring sporting legacy from the London 2012 Olympic Games and will be rolling up at Linford Christie Stadium, Du Cane Road, W12, on Sunday March 8, from 10am to 4pm.

This exciting event is being arranged by the council and everyone is invited to attend. Coaches from Fulham, Queens Park Rangers and Chelsea football clubs will be on hand to teach new skills while people will also be able to try their hand at many other sports including, hockey, rugby, athletics, archery and rowing.

Cllr Paul Bristow, cabinet member for residents’ services, said: “This is going to be a fantastic day of sporting action and I urge as many people as possible to get down to Linford Christie Stadium, one of the London 2012 training facilities, on Sunday March 8. It is now less than four years until the Olympics come to London, so now really is the perfect time to get active.”

On the same day, the Hammersmith and Fulham Mini Marathon trials will take place at Linford Christie Stadium from 10am to 12 noon. The trials offer all young people aged 11 to 17 a chance to make the team that competes at the main London Marathon. For more details contact Debbie Peters-Mill on 020 7736 1738.
