3 February (last updated at 5pm)
H&F Council is continuing to do all it can to keep the borough safe and moving and keep vital services up and running as London recovers from yesterday’s heavy snow fall.
Both H&F Direct and H&F Advice are open for business as usual. All telephone contact with the council is back to normal, although a minority of council services are still affected.
Residents should be aware that, while the weather forecast is bright and sunny for the rest of today and Wednesday, there is the risk of more snow fall on Thursday and Friday this week.
Schools
All state schools, other than Kenmont Primary, are closed today.
All state schools in the borough are open tomorrow (Wednesday 4, February). Call the council helpline on 020 8748 3020 if you need any additional information. School lunches and after school childcare will be provided as usual on Wednesday.
Dealing with snow and ice - roads
Gritters are continuing to focus on gritting the main roads.
Councillor Greg Smith, Cabinet Member for Crime & Street Scene, said: "It was all hands to the pump this week as council staff and our contractors worked tirelessly to do all we can to keep the borough safe and moving and keep vital services up and running. Our two carriageway gritters were deployed at around 8.30pm on Sunday evening as weather conditions deteriorated. They began to follow the pre-planned gritting regime of priority roads and we would like to thank residents for their patience in what as been a challenging time for Londoners. We also had four flat bed trucks for manual gritting of roads and paths."
Dealing with snow and ice - rail
Many tube lines and Overground trains are still affected. You are advised to check with Transport for London before travelling. Click on TfL's live updates (opens new window) for real time information.
Rubbish and recycling
Many staff who are normally employed on refuse and recycling collections have been redeployed yesterday and today to grit roads and clear snow. Rubbish and recycling collections will restart tomorrow (Wednesday 4, February), weather permitting.
Residents, who are due a new combined collection on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday this week will have their collection made, if the roads are passable. Residents who missed a new combined collection yesterday (Monday 2, February) or today (Tuesday 3, February) will have their collection made on Monday 9 and Tuesday 10, February respectively.

Parks
All of the borough’s parks are open but will close at 4pm today.
Children’s Services
In Children's Services only confirmed appointments and new referrals will be dealt with. There are no transport services for special educational needs pupils or adult day centres.
Adults’ Services
Day Centres are closed because of the unsafe travel conditions. The council will continue to provide essential services for vulnerable elderly people. Personal contact is being made with people known to be more vulnerable or isolated and alternative arrangements are being made to meet their priority needs.
If you are concerned about a vulnerable adult please call H&F Advice on 020 8753 5456.
Further information
All other council services are operating as normal, although some are working with fewer staff. We are doing everything we can and ask for your patience as we work to grit roads and footways and keep vital services running.
