The annual H&F Crime Summit is your chance to tell the authorities what you think about crime in your area.
This year’s summit, the third to be held in the borough, will take place at Hammersmith Town Hall on Saturday February 28 from 9.30am to 2pm.
More than 400 residents flocked to the town hall for last year’s event and a similarly large turnout is expected this time around as residents, together with representatives from the council and police thrash out crime problems on a street by street basis.
Cllr Greg Smith, Cabinet Member for Crime and Street Scene and architect of the Crime Summit, said: “Residents will again have everybody that potentially has the solution to their local crime problems on tap at the Crime Summit.
“While crime in the borough is falling there is no room for complacency and we are continuing to work hard with the Police and other organisations to drive crime down further in Hammersmith & Fulham. Continued input from residents is vital to getting this right. Our aim is clear, we want to secure the safety of everyone who lives or works in the borough.”
The Crime Summit, this year entitled ‘Your borough, your safety’, provides residents with a golden opportunity to explain to the authorities, face-to-face, how H&F can be made a safer place. The event will include workshops with the police and council officials, where residents will be able to air their views with the people who patrol their streets day in, day out. In addition, there will be short presentations from senior police officers, including borough commander, Detective Chief Superintendent Kevin Hurley.
The theme for this year’s summit is 'enviro-crime' and the council’s estate wardens, street scene and street cleansing officers, together with the police and members of the Parks Constabulary will be on hand to discuss this important topic.
