A cannabis factory, comprising 60 illegal plants and state-of-the-art hydroponic lighting equipment, has been uncovered thanks to the quick thinking of two local police officer.
The discovery came after Sergeant Dave Turtle and PC Nick Field, both members of the Munster ward Safer Neighbourhood Team stopped an untaxed Ford Transit van on Munster Road, Fulham on Monday December 15.
Upon inspection, the officers noticed that the driver also had no driving license or insurance and decided to carry out a thorough inspection of the vehicle.
Sergeant Turtle said: “I started searching the van and came across some lighting equipment that was obviously used for growing cannabis. I also searched the driver and found £1,100 in his back pocket. It was pretty obvious what this guy was up to.”
The vehicle was confiscated and officers searched the premises belonging to the driver and uncovered the drug factory.
Cllr Greg Smith, cabinet member for crime and street scene, said: “Working closely with the police, we are determined to eradicate drugs from Hammersmith & Fulham. Let this discovery send out a message to those who peddle drugs that we will find you and bring you to justice.”
