A ten-year-old girl from Shepherds Bush became the proud recipient of a massive polar teddybear recently, in recognition for the magnificent work she does looking after her sick father.
Jessica Spellar, a pupil at Bentworth Primary School, was presented with the enormous cuddly toy by Cllr Frances Stainton, cabinet member for culture and heritage at a special ceremony at Hammersmith Town Hall on Monday December 22.
Cllr Stainton explained: “I was given the adorable polar bear by John Parnham, owner of the funfair who supplied the Tea cup ride at the Fulham Christmas Fair and decided that the best person that I could give it to would be one of the borough’s young carers.
“Young carers like Jessica are amongst society’s unsung heroes. I know that Jessica works tirelessly to look after her sick father and I hope that this polar bear brings some added affection and joy into her life.”
