The capital’s X Factor-style competition for parks is well underway and the votes have been pouring in for Hammersmith Park and South Park.

But in order to win one of these much-loved parks £400,000 it is vital that as many people as possible have their say.

Both Hammersmith Park and South Park in Fulham have made it to the final of the competition, ran by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson. And with a massive pot of cash up for grabs for the ten parks that win the most votes between now and the end of January make sure you vote today.

Cllr Paul Bristow, H&F’s cabinet member for residents’ services, said: "Everyone is happy enough to vote for Strictly Come Dancing or the X Factor but here is the chance to vote for something that really matters! It would be the best start to 2009 if between us we could win £400,000 for either Hammersmith Park or South Park. Make sure that you tell everyone you know to vote today!"

And residents are also being urged to attend two specially arranged open days that will be held in order to drum up votes. South Park will be the venue on Saturday January 10, between 12 noon and 2pm. And at the same time one week later, the same event will take place at Hammersmith Park.

Cllr Bristow added: "I hope to see as many people at the two events. I have spoken to hundreds of people who have all voted but I’d like to urge all borough residents to tell everyone they know about this exciting competition. This really is a brilliant opportunity to make your voice heard! Don’t hesitate – vote today as every vote counts!"
