A talented musical youngster is to be given the chance to perform with a world class orchestra following a visit to the borough by the Mayor of Prague.
Milan Jancik was the guest of honour at the Town Hall earlier this week (Monday December 1) and was treated to a special reception by the Leader of the Council, Cllr Stephen Greenhalgh, Cabinet Member for Culture and Heritage, Cllr Frances Stainton and the rest of the Cabinet.
And during his trip to Hammersmith, Mr Jancik enquired whether the council would be able to find a talented classical musician to perform with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra at a special concert at the world famous Smichov National Hall in January 2009.
Cllr Stainton, said: "It is always wonderful to meet foreign dignitaries and to learn how local government works in other parts of the world. Mr Jancik really was a charming man and it was very kind of him to offer this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to a young person from the borough."
Since the meeting, the council has been busy contacting schools, St Pauls Church and other musical contacts to find the lucky young person but with Mr Jancik setting a deadline of Wednesday December 10, there isn’t much time to find the right boy or girl.
