Pupils from Sir John Lillie School, Lillie Road, were given a special chance to grill the council’s chief education officer recently (Friday November 7).
Andrew Christie was forced to answer some tough questions from the youngsters who were taking part in a national initiative called 11 MILLION Takeover Day, which sees youngsters put in charge of activities and services.
Headed up by the children’s commissioner for England, Professor Sir Al Anysley-Green, the aim of 11 MILLION Takeover Day is to ensure that the views of children and young people are routinely listened to, by bringing them into the heart of the decision making process.
Andrew Christie, the council’s director of children’s services, said: ”It was wonderful to meet the pupils but they really did put me on the spot by asking me some very tricky questions. The pupils are very keen to have their say and I hope that they found the session as enjoyable as I did.”
Earlier in the day, Mr Christie visited Kenmont Primary School, Valliere Road, and met with the school council.
