Pay your council tax or go to jail

A Hammersmith man has been sentenced to 28 days in prison after failing to pay council tax for seven years.
Stephen John Cyrus, of Girdlers Road, owed H&F Council £5,549. Cyrus was originally arrested in August and was sentenced to 4 weeks in prison suspended on payment of £500 per month. He failed to make any payments to the council and was subsequrently imprisoned.
