War veterans, ex-servicemen, residents and community groups will remember the sacrifices of those who gave their lives in two world wars and other conflicts around the world during the annual civic parades and services in Fulham and Shepherds Bush.

The Mayor, Cllr Andrew Johnson, will attend the Fulham parade via New Kings Road to an open air service at the Fulham War Memorial, in Vicarage Garden, and the Deputy Mayor, Cllr Alex Karmel, will join the march from Sulgrave Road to an open air service at the war memorial at Shepherds Bush Green. Both ceremonies will take place on Sunday, 9 November.

Cllr Johnson, said: "The parades and services on Remembrance Sunday, the two-minute silence and the Poppy Appeal are important ways to honour the immense contribution of those who gave their lives in the two world wars and other conflicts around the world. They also play a vital role in highlighting the continuing needs of ex-servicemen and women, as well as their relatives, who require our help and care and also for our brave troops currently serving in Afghanistan, Iraqi and other territories around the globe. It is a particular honour to be present this year on the 90th anniversary of the armistice marking the end of the First World War."

The full details of the parades and services are as follows:

  • Fulham parade and service. The procession will gather in Parsons Green Lane at 10.20 and march via New Kings Road to the Fulham War Memorial, in Vicarage Garden, next to All Saints' Church. The open air service will be led by the Rev Joseph Hawes, vicar of All Saints' Church. The mayor, Cllr Andrew Johnson, will attend the parade and service and will take the salute at the post-service march-past in New Kings Road.
  • Shepherds Bush parade and service. The procession will gather in Sulgrave Road at 10.15am and march to Shepherds Bush Green War Memorial. The open air service will be led by the Rev Canon David Tann and Rabbi Geoffrey Shisler and will be attended by the deputy mayor, Cllr Alex Karmel. After the service, there will be a march-past in Shepherds Bush Road at which Cllr Karmel will take the salute and the parade will end in Warwick Gardens.
