Local Olympic bronze medalist rower Steve Rowbotham will join dignitaries and members of the public at a special event next week to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 1908 London Olympics.
The event, taking place at the Town Hall, on Thursday October 30, will also honour local sporting talent that did the borough so proud in Beijing recently. Shepherds Bush's Olympic hero Steve Rowbotham will be attending, together with this rowing partner Matt Wells.
The 1908 Olympics were held in the borough, at White City, and this special celebration event will allow guests to remember that special event. It will also be a chance to pay respect to the sporting talents of borough residents from the last 100 years.
Mayor of the borough, Cllr Andrew Johnson, said: “I am looking forward to the event with real excitement. This borough is proud to be home to many sporting stars and I look forward to honouring them and remembering the 1908 Games.”
