A brand new 21st Century Shepherds Bush Library
Design work has started on one of Britain's most innovative new public libraries. The new Shepherds Bush Library is due to open in 2009 and will be fitted out with the most innovative technology and services available.
The new library, which is just 200 yards from the old Shepherds Bush Library, is on one of the main entrances to the new centre, opposite Debenhams, meaning it is ideally placed to attract new users.
The new library will house books and all the traditional library services as well as blazing a trail with its self-service pods, state-of-the-art IT facilities and DVD and CD hire combined.
The library will also host an employment service so that residents can access job vacancies throughout the mall as they arise. A quiet study zone, ‘teen’ area, homework support and a range of events and activities will put the new facility at the cutting edge of library services.
Councillor Bristow said, “We are working hard now to ensure that the state-of-the-art new Shepherds Bush library provides a contemporary and ground-breaking service well into the 21st century."
