A £3 million re-vamp for Shepherds Bush Green
New boulevards around the Green’s perimeter and a network of paths are two of the most popular parts of the £3 million re-vamp according to the most recent poll of residents.
Seventy-three per cent of people said that overall suggestions for the new-look Green were very good or good. Plans include a brand new children’s play area, improved CCTV and lighting and a café. The design of the young children’s play area scored highly with 70 per cent of respondents agreeing it was good or very good.
The café also did well with 62 per cent of people, who took part in the questionnaire, liking the appearance of the building.
The project uses cash negotiated by the council from Westfield and is part of the council’s ParkLife drive to improve the borough’s parks and open spaces.
Councillor Paul Bristow, Cabinet Member for Residents Services, said: “The re-vamped Green will benefit the whole Shepherds Bush community, breathing new life into a green space that needed a boost. The plans are fantastic and I’m pleased that residents are as excited about them as I am.”
A planning application is being prepared and work on the new-look Green is expected to start sometime next year.
