Not many boroughs can boast the world’s oldest sports complex, the capital’s newest major art gallery and the riverside restaurant where Jamie Oliver first plied his trade. Now the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham is hosting a showcase event for these and other unique destinations highlighting their suitability as venues for events, functions, conferences and parties.
Discover the perfect London venue in Hammersmith & Fulham aims to demonstrate to event organisers that they can find great venues in great settings at great rates, just twenty minutes outside of the city centre and forty minutes from Heathrow.
The council’s visitor development team has produced a directory of local venues for hire, available online or in print. It has also started a series of networking events where event planners can meet representatives of the borough’s top venues and find out what they have to offer.
The event will take place at Fulham Palace on Wednesday 17 September from 5pm to 7pm. In attendance will be event planners plus representatives from local venues including Chelsea Football Club, Earls Court & Olympia, Fulham Football Club, the Hurlingham Club, the Louise T, Blouin Foundation and the Novotel London West hotel.
Cllr Stainton, cabinet member for culture and heritage, said: "Hammersmith & Fulham is the perfect place to hold an event of any size or budget. The borough has a wonderful array of venues including top-flight hotels and restaurants, classic heritage centres like Fulham Palace and Bush Hall, famous sporting venues and major exhibition spaces. You’ll find these unique, world-class venues in an area of London that is home to influential, global corporations like Coca-Cola, L’Oreal and Disney and that is easily accessible from Heathrow and the city centre by rail, road and tube. It’s the perfect option."
Nancy Ackah, who organises events for the broadcasting and entertainment union BECTU, attended the previous networking session in 2007 described it as "fabulous. I have never been to Fulham Palace before and it was a golden opportunity to visit a historic and secluded venue for events. I got the chance to talk to representatives from the various venues and will keep their details on file for possible events."
