Science Week at Henry Compton School
Friday March 19, 2010
Pupils at Henry Compton School in Fulham have been learning that there is much more to science than the periodic table and chemical formulas.
The school has been taking part in National Science and Engineering Week, with pupils carrying out a whole host of experiments that prove that science really is cool for kids!
Pupils at the school on Kingwood Road have been making rockets and firing them into space, performing controlled explosions and handling corrosive chemicals.
They have also been looking at volcanic eruptions and carrying out spectacular chemical reactions.
The school’s science technician, Aslam Gill has been the driving force behind the activities. He said: “National Science and Engineering Week is aimed at the pupils who usually say ‘I have science’. I hope that these activities have transformed their views on science and they may even find science to be the most exciting lesson of the week.”
