Road to close for essential works
Wednesday December 23, 2009
Coningham Road will close for three days in the New Year in preparation for major water mains works on one of the borough’s busiest roads.
Thames Water begins replacing Victorian pipes at the Sevens Stars corner on Goldhawk Road, Askew Road and Paddenswick Road on January 11. Five old cast iron pipes at the roundabouts, which Thames Water says are at risk of bursting, will be replaced with three much larger plastic ones.
However, before those essential works can start, four traffic islands in Coningham Road must be removed. This is so that westbound buses will be able to use the road from January 11, as part of a diversion that will services in the area during the works.
Coningham Road will be partially closed from 8am on Wednesday January 6 to 6pm on Friday January 8 so that Hammersmith & Fulham Council’s contractors, Conway’s, can carry out the work.
The locations of the islands are at the junction of Goldhawk Road, at the junction of Uxbridge Road, and outside numbers 128–142, and 70-72 Coningham Road.
Access for residents living on Coningham Road and adjoining streets will be maintained at all times.
