River clean-ups

Lots of bottle: David Starks-Browning and his daughter Bryce help the clean-up.
Volunteers from Fulham collected two tons of litter during an afternoon clean-up by the Thames.
Eleven residents donned their wellies in support of waterways charity Thames21 on July 11 and picked up everything from plastic bottles, lids and bags to tyres, a traffic cone and a wheelbarrow from the Crabtree Wharf foreshore, near Crabtree Lane.
Other finds included shopping trolleys, bicycles and even a 'nice kitsch Hindu statue'.
Event organiser Judith Ressler said it had been a really successful day. She added: "People enjoyed it a lot to be outdoors, enjoyed nature and the river and along the way they did something good for the community.
"The wharf looks so much better now. It's also a very special place for animals, just like a little nature island in between all the housing."
Judith said removing the plastic helped the river's wildlife because it was a choking hazard for birds.
