Figures for ten and 11-year-olds passing their SAT exams in Hammersmith & Fulham have gone up.
According to statistics published by the Department for Education, the borough’s Key Stage 2 results all improved on last year with 75 per cent of children achieving Level 4 or higher in both English and maths – a jump of 6% from last year. The combined results of the two subjects was the biggest area to improve, hitting its highest point ever, placing H&F third best of all inner London boroughs in the English and Maths combined measure, compared to 10th last year.
Provisional results show that H&F is first of all the inner London boroughs in English and Reading, and fourth in maths. The percentage of pupils achieving a level 4 or above in reading was 85%, English was 82%, and maths was 81% – all 1% above the national average, with writing matching the national average of 71%.
Cllr Helen Binmore, cabinet member for children’s services, said: “These results are a real credit to our teachers, pupils and parents, who should be proud of all their hard work. They also show that our schools are not only performing better than the national average but are constantly improving. We are doing everything we can to get more local parents to choose schools in H&F and this proves our schools really are getting better year on year.”
