Polo practice for Fulham pupils
Tuesday March 16, 2010
Children from Sulivan primary school got in the saddle and chanced their arm at polo on Wednesday last week.
Polo in the Park returns by popular demand to Hurlingham Park, from June 4 to 6.
As part of the build-up to the event, children from Fulham primary schools are being given the chance to discover polo - a sport which originates in Hurlingham Park.
Sulivan primary school headteacher Wendy Aldridge told h&f news: "I am delighted that our pupils have been given the opportunity to take part in the discovery sessions.
"We are always keen for the pupils to pursue outdoor activities and these workshops give the children the chance to try something new and exciting.
"Polo in this country originated in Fulham, so the sessions also teach the children a little about the history of the area."
This year, to mark the forthcoming London Olympic Games, the council has negotiated 2,012 free grandstand tickets for borough residents.
Details on how to apply will be announced shortly in the h&f news and at www.lbhf.gov.uk. You can purchase tickets for Polo in the Park at: www.ticketmaster.co.uk (opens new window).
