Playground set for revamp

Tuesday October 13, 2009

A playground in Fulham is the latest in line for refurbishment.

The Maxwell Road playground is located on the junction of Maxwell Road and Moore Park Road and is set to be revamped to the tune of £50,000.

The work is being paid for by Chelsea Football Club as part of a special deal reached by the council.

The playground equipment was originally installed in 2000 but is now old and tired and in need of replacement.

The redesign of the playground will include new play equipment, refurbishing some of the existing equipment and repainting the railings.

Cllr Paul Bristow, cabinet member for residents’ services, said: “Residents are well aware of our commitment to improving parks and playgrounds and we are very excited about our plans for the Maxwell Road playground. I am particularly pleased that this revamp will come at no cost to the taxpayer. The playground is very popular with Fulham children and I am sure that they will be delighted with this news.”

The council will be discussing ideas for the playground with local residents in the near future.
