Parks Forum
Monday November 9, 2009
The Mayor’s Parlour was the venue for the inaugural Hammersmith & Fulham Parks Forum (Tuesday November 3).
The event saw representatives from all of the borough’s ‘Friends of Parks’ groups come together for the very first time to network and hear about the council’s commitment to parks.
‘Friends of Parks’ groups are springing up all over the country and enable local residents to sustain and enhance their park as a place of natural beauty and public pleasure in partnership with local authorities. There are now 16 groups in Hammersmith & Fulham alone.
Cllr Frances Stainton, cabinet member for parks, culture and heritage attended the event and said: “The importance of the friends cannot be underestimated. The council’s aim is to give a major uplift to our parks and open spaces. So who better to take part in this but you!”
If you are interested in starting off a ‘Friends of’ group or joining existing groups please call the council’s parks development team on 020 8453 2599 or email parks@lbhf.gov.uk.
