Park improvements to go ahead

New play equipment will still be installed in at least three borough parks, despite councils throughout the UK losing significant funding.
The state of the nation's finances has meant that the coalition government has been foced to axe funding to local authorities for the Playbuilder project, which saw new equipment installed in parks across the country.
H&F Council has already built ten new play areas as a result of the funding and will be dipping into its own pockets to ensure further schemes take place.
Cllr Greg Smith, cabinet member for residents' services, said: "The nation's toxic debt mountain sadly means that the coalition government has been forced to cut funding that had previously been promised.
"We are still waiting to hear from the Department for Education exactly how much of our Playbuilder budget will be cut. However, we will be going ahead with installing new play equipment at our own cost at William Parnell Park, South Park and Bishops Park and we are looking to see if we can add equipment to some other sites too.
"The ten Playbuilder sites that have been built have been very well received by children and have improved our already beautiful parks."
Playbuilder sites have already been built at Old Oak Common, Hammersmith Park, Cathnor Park, Ravenscourt Park, Marcus Garvey Park, Hurlingham Park, Margravine Gardens, Lytton Estate and William Banfield Estate.
