Open day for first time buyers
Tuesday, November 6, 2012
Young people looking to get onto the housing ladder should attend a special open day in Shepherds Bush on Saturday.
Hammersmith & Fulham (H&F) Council has teamed up with developer St James who is offering nine state-of-the-art apartments at Lime Grove Mews, Stowe Road, at an incredible 30 per cent below the market rate!
The properties are being marketed to people living or working in the borough with a combined annual household income(s) below £64,000.
These city suite apartments will be showcased at an open day on Saturday November 10, from 9am to 1pm at Lime Grove Mews, Stowe Road, W12 8RL.
H&F has the fourth highest house prices in Britain and many residents who would like to own a place in the borough are currently priced out of the market.
And a recent study from the Government’s English Housing Survey has found that first-time buyers today are expected to save up to the age of 40 before they can purchase a home.
So in steps the council and its dedicated Home Buy team which works tirelessly to help people purchase their dream home through schemes such as this.
This Discounted Market Sale (DMS) scheme has come to fruition because when the development was negotiated with the council, the 30 per cent discount was stipulated to try to help people get onto the property ladder.
Apartments at Lime Grove Mews start from £220,500, compared to a borough average of above £450,000.
In fact, H&F Council is on track to helping 1,000 low and middle income earners into home ownership by 2013 thorough schemes such as this.
Cllr Andrew Johnson, cabinet member for housing, said “This is fantastic news for hard working middle income earners who want to live in Hammersmith & Fulham but have not been able to afford to. Owning your own home gives you a greater stake in your community, a greater stake in your own future prosperity and more choice. It is a natural aspiration to want to own your own home but unfortunately that is a distant dream for many Londoners.
“Average house prices in the borough are well out of the reach of many hard working families but schemes like this show that it is possible to get a foothold on the property ladder even during these tough economic times. This is exactly the kind of scheme that helps us to make Hammersmith & Fulham your borough of housing opportunity and I am delighted that we have been able to work so closely with St James’ on this scheme.”
Paul Hopkins, Managing Director of St James commented, “The open day at Lime Grove Mews will provide a rare chance for first time buyers in Hammersmith and Fulham to acquire a beautiful apartment set within a gated mews in a prime London location at a price which is significantly lower than market values. The DMS scheme is ideal for young professionals who no longer want to rent property but establish themselves in a secure and central location, just a stone’s throw from Westfield and the vibrancy of Notting Hill and minutes from over and underground transport links to all areas of London.“
The apartments feature the classic combination of London stock brick, render/stone detailing and reconstituted slate roofs. Interiors have been intelligently designed for the ultimate 21st century living experience and enjoy high specification fixtures and fittings throughout.
First time buyers at Lime Grove Mews will also benefit from excellent transport links and an incredible choice of every convenience on their doorstep, with Westfield only a stone’s throw away.
